Gold Coast Maternity Photographer
There's a short window in pregnancy where everything feels different. Your body is changing, your world is about to shift, and you'll never look quite like this again. A maternity session is a way to hold onto that, before the baby arrives and everything moves fast.
I photograph maternity sessions across the Gold Coast, at sunrise or golden hour, when the light is soft and the beaches are quiet. Each session runs for about an hour and moves at a relaxed pace. We usually start with some time just for you, solo shots that focus on the shape of your belly, the way you're carrying this pregnancy, a quiet moment before anyone else joins in. Then we bring in your partner, and if you have other children, they're welcome too. Some of the sessions I love most are the ones where an older sibling presses a hand against mum's belly, or a partner wraps their arms around her from behind. Nothing is posed to look perfect. It's about capturing how it actually feels.
Where we shoot
I shoot maternity sessions at a handful of Gold Coast locations, depending on what suits you and the time of year. These are my favou:
Currumbin Beach, for that classic golden hour, ocean backdrop feel
Dreamtime Beach, quieter and more secluded, good for a slower, more intimate session
Long Tan Park, if you'd prefer greenery over sand
Mount Tamborine Flower Farm, for a soft, romantic setting surrounded by flowers, a favourite for clients who want something a little different from the beach
We can talk through which location suits your style and your due date when you enquire. And Many maternity clients also book a newborn session.
Celebrating the growth of life
What to wear
Flowy dresses photograph beautifully for maternity sessions, they move with you and suit almost every location. Jeans with a fitted top, or a skirt and top combination, also work well if you want something a little more relaxed or modern. I'm happy to talk through outfit choices with you once you've booked, including what works for your partner and kids if they're joining.
When to book
I'd recommend booking your maternity session about one to two months ahead of when you want to shoot. This gives us time to find a date that works for you, usually somewhere in your third trimester when your bump is full but you're still comfortable moving around. If you're not sure exactly when to book, just get in touch and we can work it out together based on your due date.
Why maternity photos matter
Pregnancy passes so quickly, especially by the time you're deep in the third trimester and everyone keeps telling you to rest up. A maternity session gives you a reason to pause, get dressed up if you want to, and actually look at yourself the way everyone else sees you: glowing, capable, about to become someone new. These photos become even more meaningful once your baby arrives. They're proof of a chapter that only lasts a few months, and they're something your child can look back on one day and see how loved they already were, before they'd even taken a breath.
